Our IW Solution Methodology consists of three phases to assessing and implementing requirements.
The first phase (Assess) is to assess where you are and to define where you want to go. This involves assessing the current state and defining vision and scope for the future. The second phase (Plan) is to define a plan or plans to get you from the current state to where you want to go. The third phase (Implement) is the implementation of the plan(s) in a series of projects. Implementation projects take one of three different approaches depending on the type of implementation (Business Productivity Infrastructure, Information Worker Applications, and Business Solutions).
Business productivity infrastructure projects typically include deployment of infrastructure and content. An example of an infrastructure project would be a deployment of a SharePoint infrastructure. Information worker applications begin with a requirements and design engagement followed by an implementation engagement. Finally, a business solution begins with a vision and scope. This first step is required to ensure alignment on the vision and scope for all stakeholders. It consists of facilitated session to define the following:
-
Problem definition
-
Stakeholders
-
Strategy
-
Solution vision
-
Business case for change
The vision and scope generally includes a story board of screen shots to set the vision. The Vision and Scope is followed by a Requirements and Design. The Requirements and Design is followed by an implementation.
DataLan’s Information Worker Solution methodology includes all aspects of assessment, planning, requirements, technology deployment, and change management. Employee adoption is always a risk in these types of projects and a proven methodology mitigates this risk.
