Customer Profile
The customer is a US subsidiary of one of the world’s largest financial institutions, operating in five segments: Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Banking, Global Markets, and Other. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
Situation
The institution needed to manage the loan application process across multiple departments and geographies, assembling complex and in some cases, multi-lingual, compound documents. The resulting documents needed to be made available to the home office for final loan review and approval. A complex security model, integrated with existing customer access control systems and taking into account customer access, division, and department, was a critical component of the solution.
Solution
DataLan provided a custom solution on the SharePoint platform that provides secure access to customer and loan application documents for local and home office users. The solution integrates with the institution’s customer access authorization database so that the existing client authorization process seamlessly extends to the new application. Automated document assembly and publishing via third-party PDF generating software has streamlined the loan process, and the collection of important loan and customer relationship documentation has begun the process of replacing physical customer files with virtual electronic files.
Benefits
Leveraging the capabilities of the SharePoint platform, the institution was able to automate the assembly and approval of complex compound documents, reducing review cycle time and removing the laborious and error-prone process of manually assembling loan applications. The integration with the institution’s customer access control database allowed for secure customer eFiles, providing document re-use, searchable repositories of document-based customer information, and full auditability of document changes, approvals, and publishing activities.
